I want to make a full backup of my system before I try to rebuild it to upgrade from 10.2 to 10.3. To do this, I bought a USB drive that's bigger than my system's internal disk. It mounts automatically when I log in as a user, but doesn't mount when I'm in single-user mode. Normally, "mount" shows it as /dev/sdb1 /media/EASY DISK and I can read and write files just dandy. However, in single user mode, it doesn't show up automatically, and if I try to do: mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt or mount /dev/sdb1 /media/EASY\ DISK the system tells me there's no such device as /dev/sdb1 So, can anyone tell me how to mount a USB external drive in single user mode? Alternatively, can anyone tell me how to make a stable backup of a whole filesystem (hard/soft links, device files and all) while not being in single user mode? Thanks in advance for any pointers, Cheers, Simon "You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers.
