Subject:[opensuse] Omnivision 2mb webcam only VGA resolution on Vostro 1700
Group:Suse-linux-e
From:Manne Merak
Date:5 May 2008

Hi,
I have my new Vostro 1700 running happily. Only issue is the webcam
resolution.
The builtin UVC compatible webcam is a OV2640 (which is a 2mb cam).
It works fine in Skype. Cant get it to work in xawtv. Mplayer works
with the following:
mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:fps=15
I must supply "fps", but the value is not used - it defaults to a couple
of frames a second (prop about 3fps).
The resolution also defaults to 640x480, even if I supply other values
in -tv options.

Anyone else have this cam working at higher resolutions?
Manne
