Hello. We have recently changed our ISP that provides Internet access, and thus require to change the SMTP server setting in Postfix, to be able to send out mail using our mail server. The only way that I can find to do this, is, using the Postfix book by Kyle Dent (Postfix: The Definitive Guide, O'Reilly, 2004), on pages 110-111, is reference to "Outbound mail relay", which involves changing the parameter relayhost in main.cf, then running "postfix reload". I have changed that parameter, to the new SMTP server, first commenting out the old SMTP server and inserting the text line containing the name of the new SMTP server, and running "postfix reload". That did not work; mail was still sent to the old external SMTP server, and bounced. So, I deleted the commented out text line, and again ran "postfix reload". That didn't work, so I rebooted the mail server. That didn't work; the email message that I was trying to send, was still sent to the old external SMTP server, and bounced. Can the external SMTP server setting be changed in Postfix? I cannot find how to do it, which means that, until I can find how to do it, we can no longer use Postfix to send outgoing email. Thank you in anticipation. -- Bret Busby Armadale West Australia ..............
