My smtpd.conf file is as follows

pwcheck_method: saslauthd
mech_list: PLAIN LOGIN CRAM-MD5 DIGEST-MD5

though for some unknown reason mail log reports
"SASL LOGIN authentication failed: authentication failure"

I've tried Digest-MD5 but this complains about the lack of /etc/sasldb

My SASL worked fine with Cyrus built in MySQL support though I'm changing to
PAM to hopefully allow the use of MD5 passwords.

saslauthd is running with "-c -a pam" switches.

I have setup a file in /etc/pam.d with the relevant database connection
settings.

I'm at a loss to explain what is going on. I have spent ages Googling this but
most information is either designed for pre packaged Linux like Redhat or
other people with just the same issues as I'm having.

Michael
