I'm trying the same with mailman cos my maildir is bloated due to the
huge number of lists I'm subscribed to. Thunderbird is having trouble
handling it.

I'm using header_checks to match the List-ID: header and REDIRECTing
to the appropriate list address. Lists are set to accept all messages.
Usually, that's what they do.

On mailman, using the python regex "^.*" to match all senders, digest
and single messages are turned off.

But mailman insists on sending notices back to the senders. Not all of
the lists do this, though they are all configured the same and have
been told not to do it. Have watch the outgoing queue and delete all
the list responses waiting to go out. This could probably be
temporarily quick-fixed by by using sender_dependent_transport_maps
and designating a different transport that discards outgoing messages
from mailman. I believe that would discard _all_ mailman output, though.

Perhaps list mail would better be handled by moving messages to local
newsgroups via a local mail-to-news gateway and set the group to never
expire messages? Haven't managed to get this working myself but I've
heard of other people doing it.
