Subject:large deferred queue ('too many connections')

I have Postfix 2.3.2 running with Mailman. I am getting a lot of "too
many connections from you host" errors and my deferred queue fills up.
It can take up to 3 hours for it to empty. Since this is occuring so
regularly I want to deal with it intelligently. How can I tell Postfix
to stop delivering a single message to multiple recipients so quickly?
Is it with the default_destination_recipient_limit parameter?

Thank you,

Juan
