The number of classes is limited by available virtual memory.

Generally, Postfix imposes no hard limits on information that is
specified by the sysadmin, but does impose hard limits on things
that remote users control (number of recipients, message size,
length of lines in message, number of errors in SMTP session).

Some sysadmin-provided information is subject to hard limits;
this is a safety net to prevent mail explosions due to mistakes
(number of recursion levels in alias expansion, for example).
