hmm, i have narrowed it down a bit:

postmap -q user ldap:/etc/postfix/local_recipient_maps.cf

shows the correct result.

my main.cf reads like this:

virtual_mailbox_domains = domain.net domain1.net domain2.name
virtual_alias_maps = ldap:/etc/postfix/ldap_user_aliases.cf
virtual_mailbox_maps = ldap:/etc/postfix/local_recipient_maps.cf

and syslog shows that postfix only looks in the virtual alias maps, not
in the virtual mailbox maps. *confused*

somehow I am doing this wrong ...
