On 22-04-2008 19:30 CET, David III composed this enchanting statement: > Good afternoon, > > When I open Firefox on a different computer, my home page, www.google.com, > opens just fine. When doing a search, it takes several minutes to find > results, and when clicking the links, the time it takes to open the page is > like an eternity. Since I have not waited that long before becoming > frustrated with it, I do not know the exact wait time. > > I have become frustrated enough to try another search page, www.yahoo.com, > and that one never opens, or atleast I don't have the patience to wait for > it either and eventually open internet explorer where everything works > perfect, except the driveby spyware intallations and other risks are > becoming a nuisance. > > I would really like to get my Firefox working right again. > > Is your experience with a different computer really comparable, eg. on the same place, same OS, same connection, etc.? A considerable factor, in the wait time for a page to be rendered and presented, is your internet connection speed. Is that via a telephone line modem, perhaps? On Cable or DSL, Google search results are presented in a split second. Do you have a google extension installed? 'yahoo.com' should present the home page in a few seconds. Do you have javascript enabled, do you allow popups and cookies? Review your Fx preference settings, see Tools/Options, for the above. On a slow connection you may opt not to display pictures and block flash downloads (install the Flashblock extension!), to save data transfer and page rendering time. -- Kind regards, Melchert (MacOS 10.3.9 / Firefox 2.0, Thunderbird 2.0) _______________________________________________ support-firefox mailing list support-firefox https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-firefox To unsubscribe, send an email to support-firefox-request?subject=unsubscribe
