I am designing a web page and trying to fit the maximum sized <input type="text" size="xx"> into a small space. When I view the same page on Vista vs. Ubuntu, both with Firefox 2.0.0.10, the Ubuntu rendering of the page shows the input area to be about 10% longer. If I fill the text box with "w" characters, I can fit 14 into the Vista box and 15 into the Ubuntu box. I have the font sizes set on Vista and Ubuntu set to the same size. Safari, Opera, and IE7 on Vista appear consistent with Vista Firefox. Konqueror on Ubuntu is borderline larger, but not as large as Ubuntu Firefox. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?
