Hi, Firefox is my default web browser but a program I use at work requires IE6+ to be the default. I'm trying to find a way around this ridiculous situation. Allow me to explain: The program generates HTML reports (temporary files) and immediately opens them in IE. If FF is set as default browser, simply nothing happens. The tech 'support' can't seem to tell me why this is the case and, in any event, I don't care if the report opens in IE. What does bother me is having to change my default browser because of this!!! I'm trying to understand what exactly 'default web browser' actually means; I've seen several entries for potentially relevant 'files' in Windows Explorer's "File Types" settings. Now I'm trying to guess how the info is sent from the program to the browser and how to cause it to open in IE rather than FF. I'm hoping a Firefox techie might be able to explain what happens when Firefox is made the default browser and tell me if there's a way to distinguish between clicking on a URL and opening data passed from the other program. I'm sorry if this is a badly explained problem but I don't understand enough to ask a clear question!
