Error on desktop shortcut?

Hello,

Since I made FF my default browser, all of the shortcuts that I have
on my desktop result in an error message that says:

"Windows can not find http://www.the site.com. Make sure that you
typed the name correctly and try again."

But it does go to the page in FF without a problem. So I have to close
the error message each time.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of the error message?
