For Windows, I use Xnews. For GNU/Linux, Claws Mail.

I've set followup to mozilla.general. Please take general newsreader
discussions there (or to Usenet's news.software.readers). If you want
to consider Thunderbird as an option, there's
mozilla.support.thunderbird
