I was trying to make space on my disk, and deleted a bunch of temp files.
Unfortunately, I apparently was a little too exuberant and deleted
something I needed. (Yes, I know how stupid it was, please don't waste
your time berating me.)

Okay, the only thing that doesn't work is Firefox. I open it, it takes
about 18 seconds (as opposed to the usual 11) to come up, and then the
only thing that comes up is a sort of ghost. I can see the URL bar, a
couple of things from the status bar, but mostly just my desktop shows.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no dice. I tried reinstalling
Windows 2KPro just to be sure it wasn't a system file. No luck.

I've opened Opera, which does work, but I want my Firefox back
desperately.

Anybody got any ideas?

And in case you forgot, never *never* do maintenance on your box when
you're tired and it's past midnight.
