Hi, I'm trying to determine what has caused a change on my XP system regarding the "Application Data" folder in my WinXP account under "Documents and Settings." As you know, the profiles for Thunderbird and FireFox are stored there and one needs to access them when changing settings or whatever. I found that my system is NOT displaying the "App Data" folder even though my folder settings are set to Display Hidden folders, display extensions, and Do not hide system files, etc. I had to use the Search function to get to the App Data folder and in the search results screen, I changed the attributes from Hidden and Read Only to what I wanted. After doing this, on the next startup, they are gone again and I have to play that game all over again. Does anyone know what is going on here? I've posted this on the Windows XP newsgroup and others are reporting the same behavior. Many tell me that it has always been that way. Not true, I've accessed the App Data folder numerous times making changes to preferences as needed and always found the App Data folder under Documents and Settings. I'm of the opinion that a Windows update probably caused this in the name of a security fix by MS - but I don't really know. I do know, however, that I don't like this system behavior at all. I also find that the "SendTo" folder is also hidden in the same way! Any thoughts and/or ideas?
